Tai Chi Chuan

"Empty yourself of everything Let the mind rest at peace. The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return. They grow and flourish and then return to the source. Returning to the source is stillness, which is the way of nature..."   From the Tao Teh Ching

Tai Chi Chuan– Paradox of Opposites
Excited and calm, exercising and relaxed, soft and powerful, yielding and overcoming, stillness within movement are a few of the opposites one experiences simultaneously when practicing Tai Chi. This very interesting exercise, while never boring, is continually alive and challenging. It challenges your preconceived way of being in relationship to the force of gravity, to your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves, and to your interactions with others. Practicing Tai Chi gives you a chance to look at the choices you’ve made on all these levels and rework those choices within a naturally unfolding process that tunes into a deeper, non-intellectual aspect of being.

"... in this way man comes to resemble heaven and earth, he is not in conflict with them. His wisdom enhances all things and his tao brings order into the whole world, therefore he does not err. He is active everywhere but does not let himself be carried away. He rejoices in heaven and has knowledge of fate; therefore he is free of care. He is content with his circumstances and genuine in his kindness, therefore he can practice love."  Tao Teh Ching
The Wisdom of Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a method of meditation and self-integration through slow, relaxed, conscious movement. Through Tai Chi practice you naturally develop the ability to bring yourself into a state of internal harmony and balance. As your body is gently and thoroughly exercised, your emotions are calmed and your mind is restored to peaceful wholeness.

Tai Chi produces the same benefit as meditation with the added positive effects of exercise. With Tai Chi movement, you direct your body with your mind, utilizing sensitivity and intelligence to obtain results instead of will power and exhaustive effort.
Further benefits are:

·  having the ability to generate your own
    well-being and balance
·  feeling calm, satisfied, awake,
   happy, self confident
·  having the power to generate more
energy to do what you want
·  being able to release yourself from
the grip of worries and tensions
·  developing better resistance to and
quicker recovery from stress and disease
·  increased general enjoyment of life
·  self-confidence based in knowing
that you have the power and physical
ability to respond adequately to the
problems and predicaments in your life
